if i leave black hair dye in for less time than i am supposed to...
say 15 minutes instead of 25
will the color be less dark and intense?
because i am going for a ';natural soft black';
and im afraid its going to be too dark for what i wantedRevlon colorsilk black dye help!?
Black is black. If you want something more natural, try the soft black, blue black, or brown- black they make.
I use their dye on my own hair- so I know what they make.
Also, remember that when you dye your hair, the color hasn't set right after you wash the dye out. It take several washings to let the color soften and oxidize before you see the end results. The time for sittin gwith hair dye in is for proper absorbtion, not strength of the color. Let it set for 25 minutes if that is what it says.
But, I would try a softer color and work your way up to black. Black is a color that is a definate life-style choice. It's fairly permanent- afterall, it isn't as easy to cover up as blonde!Revlon colorsilk black dye help!?
if it says 25, leave it in for about 25
it sounds dumb but just put it in and let your hair go, keep it in for exactly that and then rinse it a LOT. it will help reduce the sheen of a vibrant color, but leaving it in less time will only make it not blend well. DO NOT put it up or anything, let it hang loose so the pigments don't thicken and cause a more vibrant look, just let it hang.
Use a dark brown color. It will look like what you are after.
There should be a help phone number on the box.
Call them, they will let you know, what you should do.
it will be more intense if u leave it on there a long time... it doesnt take darker colors that long to set
Black dye actually has blue highlights. I would take it back and go for a dark brown. You never stated your hair color and that is an important issue. Less time does not mean less except when you are going lighter. Don't believe thats the isssue either. Toll free number on the box will take you right to the people that can -without a doubt - answer this question before you make a BIG boo-boo.
next time try dark brown it looks like soft black. The longer you have it on your head the darker and any flaws you have in or on your face will show up.
I used that same exact(soft black) color and brand when I last dyed my hair and it turned out a blue black. It might have just been a defective hair dye or something but i'll never use it again. I left it in for about 20 mintues and my nautral hair color is a medium brown.
it will be.
it's the same dye i used about 2 months ago and it works really well.
i left it on 15 extra minutes though so the shade would be darker.
just don't wash it off too early or it wouldn't work at all.
15 minutes may not give you full coverage. Even w permanent hair color will get some fading- so it should go softer looking in a week or so.
Do not buy Black dye, buy darkest brown color that looks black, it will look more natural. Black dye is for the Goth look, and lacks the soft look and shine. I know if you already have dark hair (dark brown to black) you don't use black dye you hair will look like a wig. If you have darker hair your hair takes longer time for color to set. I have black hair I let my golden blond dye sit usually over an hour to get noticable result. But I always color the ends and work it up to roots as heat causes dye to color hair quicker.
hopefully you researched your color. there are different kind of blacks (blue, violet, warms, cools..) and depending on what your coloring and current hair color is you could end up with a muddy dull black no matter how long you leave it in your hair. Hair color is formulated to oxidize at a certain rate and if you leave it in to little you wont get the full effect of the color. remember once you go black its really really really hard to go back so i would really consider just paying the money and seeing a professional before you permanently mess up your hair and then would have to wait a long time to fix it.
i dye my friends hair with that all the time.
do the time it says on the box, it might end up gray if you don't.
just don't leave it in any longer than it says and youll be fine.
it might not take. do the full time, after a week or so it will loose some of its color, and wont be so harsh.

REVLON COLORSILK..is it safe?
I really really want to dye my hair black...but my hair is kind of thin...
it's ammonia-free...and I want to know if it's safe and if it damages the hair...what do you thinkREVLON COLORSILK..is it safe?
Take it from some one who has had a LOT of dye go through her hair. NEVER do box color!!! it's bad for your hair and is not like what they have in salons. it is not good for your hair at all! It is WELL worth the money to go to a good salon and tell them what you want. they understand your hair, most likely, better than you do. the color lasts longer and is not nearly as damaging for your hair. please, go to a salon! they do it great.REVLON COLORSILK..is it safe?
its real good
Unless you have a darker complexion---DON'T go with straight black. (Unless you are going for the ';death warmed over'; look!) Try dark brown instead. Colorsilk is great---I've used it before, and it did just as good as the pricier brands. It doesn't permanently damage your hair, so long as you follow the directions, and aren't dyeing your hair too frequently. Any type of dyeing will result in a bit of ';stiffness'; to the hair texture (which is why they give you conditioner). Good luck!
any and every process damages the hair cuticle; regardless of the name brand. it is a chemical process period.
now, the better quality the better results.
i use colorsilk in between colorings at salons and i think it works very well. my hair always ends up shiny and great looking
funny you should ask that...my roomie just used that stuff...i'll let you know when she's done coloring. i agree with the first person who answered this question though. its not a brand matter, a chemical process is a chemical process. good luck! :)
Ok anything like that will hurt your hair. I used to dye my hair all the time. I stopped because the dye treatment was messing my hair and my scalp up!
I agree with the don't go black if your skin tone is fair tip. And yes, Color Silk is good stuff! I've used it in a pinch when I was short on dough and needed a quick change. Good luck, but go dark brown, not BLACK!

IS REVLON colorsilk...ammonia free safe for the hair?
will it make it fall out? I have thin dry hair, and I want to give it color becuase the color is fading away...i just want some advice..please? does amonia free damage hair?IS REVLON colorsilk...ammonia free safe for the hair?
Ammonia free is usually considered safer for the hair than those with ammonia. I'm 40 years old, going grey and I use Clairol Natural Instincts and I get lots of compliments on my hair color and shine. It's mild enough to use every four weeks, and I use Tresemme shampoo and conditioner for colored hair every day and the color lasts.IS REVLON colorsilk...ammonia free safe for the hair?
read it on the box
It is still damaging but when you are finished dying your hair, buy Pantene Pro-v Restoritives CONDITIONER (for damaged hair) and let it sit on your hair for a few hours...
i tried revlon colorsilk and i really didn't like it. it seemed to fade very fast. herbal essence is a less-damaging brand as well, maybe you should check that out!
p.s. no hair dye is completely undamaging. the best way to cope is using deep conditioner. since it's summer you can put it in and then sit outside in the sun, it'll make it work better! i like the feria brand deep conditioner (you have to get this at a beauty supply store i think) and also the deep hydrating treatment by pantene pro-v.

Revlon Colorsilk hair dye question please!?
ive just used the revlon colorsilk product and i have almost half of the bottle extra of the cream.i use that to have my lowlights instead of dying my whole hair..so can i keep the remaining cream for later use if i want to re dye? if yes, how long...please state how long it is...Revlon Colorsilk hair dye question please!?
Nope. Once you mix the dye components (usually a small vial of liquid dye into the applicator bottle cream) you have to use it right away. It'll keep reacting, spill out of the bottle, and make a mess of wherever you're keeping it. Plus, it loses potency and won't color your hair a week from now, or whenever you'd use it again.
You can keep it as long as it takes to dye, rinse, blow dry, decide you need more color, and dye again, but only if that all happens in a few hours.

Revlon colorsilk(20 characters)?
im planning on dyeing my hair a soft black. i want a hair dye that is ammonia free, i know that this one is. it is also permanent, which i also want. does this hair dye work well?
or do you guys know a better one that is:
1.ammonia free
2.permanent
3.soft black shades
4.relatively cheap
thanks sooo much! :DRevlon colorsilk(20 characters)?
It works pretty well, but can fade in a few months. Plus, if you hair really light hair, roots are always an issue with dark colors. What I've started doing is dying it mostly black, but leaving highlights of my natural color, so roots are less obvious, and I have a few more months before I have to re-dye.Revlon colorsilk(20 characters)?

Revlon colorsilk help
I dyed my hair the ASH BROWN 50 box and it made my hair just a little brown from black. you could only see the little brown hint in the light.. I even left the color in for 30 minutes....... if i let the color in for 45 minutes or even an hour... would it help..... cuz it made my hair really dry and bushy like after the dye..... or should i just get another color? Revlon colorsilk help
don't leave color in for any longer then the box says it can damage your hair....you can't lighten dark hair more than a shade with revlon colorsilk..so if you lightening it won't work enless you have blonde hair....don't re dye if it came out too dark then it will probably wash out to a lighter shade in a few weeks
what is your natural hair color? if its dark and your lightening you need to see a professional box color won't do it...

Revlon Colorsilk - How long should I wait before I color my hair?. . . .?
My friend colored my hair last night with Revlon Colorsilk #90.
I had blonde hair with really dark roots showing. Now my hair is blonde, with strawberry blonde/reddish roots. I don't like it, ha! I want it to be blonde all over. How long should I wait before I try coloring my hair again to make it even?
Thanks for your time! :-)Revlon Colorsilk - How long should I wait before I color my hair?. . . .?
You can do it whenever. In the salon I would do it right away but I wouldn't do it more than twice. You should really try a toner first. Something from Sally's would work with a PURPLE base. Mix it with 20 or 30 volume and only put it on your roots!! Wait a few mins while you watch it in the mirror. You will see the yellow/orange disappear and that's when you know it is ready to rinse. If you leave it on to long it will make your hair too pale and possible purple. But nothing a few shampoos can't take care of. Toning is what you should be doing.Revlon Colorsilk - How long should I wait before I color my hair?. . . .?
have you tried toner on your roots? that would be the first thing to do and then mybe let it settle for a week and hve another go
if you get dark roots you should use a prelightener before you use the shade of blode you want.
if you hairs in bad contion id use a deep condioner first
good luck
just to be safe, about 2 weeks. the hair becomes weak and damaged if dyed too often. trust me, I KNOW ! hahathin hair

Revlon Colorsilk Medium Auburn 42 VS. Garnier Nutrisse Sangria 56?
currently my hair is the sangria color. when i first dye it it always comes out purpley and fades to red. right now its grown out a bit an needs to be dyed my blond is coming through ... the top of my hair is a reddish color and the bottom looks like a darker brownish red. i let my mom get my dye. she comes home with the medium auburn which to me looks more red orange. if i use the aurburn will it fade my hair a little? or will it just dye my roots and not take to the rest? or will it just make my hair darker all together and the roots light? lol i have that 3 step strip stuff from sallys but im scared to use it because my friend said her hair turned orange when she used it ...suggestions? mature answers only please.Revlon Colorsilk Medium Auburn 42 VS. Garnier Nutrisse Sangria 56?
it depends on how long your hair is. If your hair is very long, it won't dye it all.

Revlon ColorSilk Natural Blue Black(12)??
my hair was professionally dyed a brownish color and my black roots are growing out a lot already.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y50/PHa鈥?/a>
i was wondering if this was a good product to use? and does the blue show a lot? did it come out looking retarded or something?
i rarely dye my hair so i dont want this one to mess up my hair and have to dye it again ';/
when my natural black roots start to grow out after i dye it blue black, will it make a huge noticeable difference?
i dont really care if the blue part tends to fade away as long as the black will stay over my brown?
but i heard some rumors that this causes spots or whatever and that the blue might even transform to purple? %26gt;.%26lt;
please just answer my questions and basically tell me if it would last, look good, and if the color does something weird?
please be hella specific too so i dont have to question more %26gt;.%26lt;Revlon ColorSilk Natural Blue Black(12)??
Eh, I wouldn't use Revlon Color Silk. It sucks.
Use Clairol's Nice N Easy. It's the best. Or the Garnier 100% color thing. Make sure you leave them on super long. =) The color seems to be nicer when left on longer. Esp. black.
If your hair is naturally black then i think it would blend in because the black dye starts to turn to a more natural looking black over time.
As for your hair turning purple..it wont. Just make sure that you have enough color for your hair [you prob need two bottles] and leave it on a little longer than it says to. Like an hour. =)Revlon ColorSilk Natural Blue Black(12)??
Just to tell you, Blue Black isn't Blue with Black, It's Black hair with a TINT of Blue, where you go outside in the sun and you can see the blue tint. No, the Blue won't turn purple...Actually the only way the blue can be very noticable is if you have blond hair, which is when the Blue becomes the more dominante color...But that's not the Real Color..and it's sort of ugly(as it looks awful on my sisters hair.)
First of all, your roots appear to be dark brown, not black.
It's only called a ';Blue Black'; because it has cool tones to it.
If you dye your hair this colour, you better be sure you want it, because black does not come out easily at all!
I would suggest using a dark ';ash'; brown to achieve the colour of your roots. When ever the name of a colour has the words ';ash'; in it, this means it's from the cool side of the colour wheel. Which, in your case, would probably be better because it looks like your hair has some red tones in it.
Your hair will not turn purple if you dye it blue black, don't worry.
I've used Revlon in the past and I haven't been impressed.. Now I use Garnier Nutrisse exclusively. Doesn't leave your hair fried and the color isn't splotchy and doesn't fade.
it sounds like you want to dye your previously died hair back to match your roots. First of all, your roots do not look black to me. It is very rare to have black hair, so I would stay away from color that dark. once you dye your hair too dark you are screwed. safer side is to go too light, then go darker. your died hair looks very warm, copperish. i think if you do a medium natural brown you should be pretty close. not ash (blue) and defiantely not warm (red, copper, auburn etc). you could also do a demi or semi permanent color that is healthier and safer. the more you do it the more it will stain. its like a glaze.
Yes, I have used that exact hair dye and yes.. the blue with be very noticeable and it turned out great . There is no chance of it turning purple. Just make sure that you are committed to very dark hair but if your natural color is very black then the blue black would be a nice accent to your hair..

I am 14weeks 4days pregnant and so officially in my 2nd trimester. I have had a problem with premature greying of hair for a long time and always dyed my hair. I refrained from coloring my hair in the 1st trimester but now that my greys are beginning to show its becoming really embarassing so i was wondering is it ok to dye my hair now that i am in the 2nd trimester. I have asked me doctor and she says it is OK to do so but i am still kinda scared. Do you guys think i should go and ahead and color my hair? anyone else in the same position?
Thanks!Revlon Colorsilk hairdye while pregnant?
You should trust what the doctor said, if you don't than you need to look for a new doctor.Revlon Colorsilk hairdye while pregnant?
I am 15.5 weeks pregnant with number 2 and just used that same hair dye last night! it was on sale at my grocery store for $1.50 a box and seeing as I need 3 boxes b/c I have very very long thick hair I went for it! I love it and it looks great, I also died my hair with my first child who is 2.5 years old and perfect! it is a wives tale, go for it!
you should be fine. make sure to do a skin test before hand as pregnant women are at risk of having a reaction due to increased hormones etc. leave skin test on for 24 hrs and if thats ok then you'll be fine.
I have read that its not good to use hair dyes while pregnant, so I opt for highlights but i tell them not to touch my scalp. There's no proven affects on the baby, but i wouldn't use chemicals especially ones with ammonia in it.
Yes it is fine to dye your hair once you get into your second trimester. Just be sure to be in a well ventilated area and to not keep it on your head too long before rinsing.
Why are you asking us strangers when your doctor said it's okay?? Trust your doc over us!
you can dye your hair at anytime in pregnancy. im 24 weeks i dyed my hair at the beginning of this pregnancy and did it twice with my son. when income tax comes in im going to get my hair done (highlights) so hair dye is perfectly fine.
I died my hair 2 times while I was pregnant- for touch-ups. I have a healthy baby boy. Go right ahead- especially if your DR saya it's OK!!
Go for it.
If the Dr says its okay, then it's fine. Trust your Dr.
Ive noticed more gray too! My doctor said to avoid coloring just in the 1st trimester until organs, ect are developed. I started coloring about the same time as you, because wow, was it grown out...lol!
The biggest concern if breathing the fumes. I have used the Nice n Easy 10 minute haircolor and it does cover all my grays. I like that it is only on for 10 mintues, just to be on the safe side. Plus, the one time I did use the stuff you live on for 30-45 mintues...I did start to feel a little sickish. Make sure you turn on the fan and leave the room after applied.
Congrats!

I have the same skin coloring and I have had my hair light auburn, dark auburn and burgundy. My favorite is burgundy but it does make my skin look a little more pale. I got the most compliments on my hair when it was dark auburn. You can dye your hair after 4 to 6 weeks. When you dye the roots for a touchup just put the dye on the roots and then pull it through the rest of your hair for the last five minutes. Otherwise you will get what is called ';brown out'; - an over saturation of color on the ends and really dry ends as well.Revlon colorsilk #49 (auburn brown), #31 (dark auburn), #34 (dark burgundy), which one's best for me?
wait a month or two
i know you probably dont want to but you can fry your hair with all the chemicals.
brown har ias going to turn red anyways because we have natural red under tones.
i would go with chestnutty/ darkish auburn . you'll look tanner.
ooo i think this auburn brown is good...

Colorsilk Auburn Brown on Black Hair?
Hi! PLEASE do not tell me to go to a salon for something like this, I can't afford it!!! So I cosplay Kairi for my KH cosplay group. Cosplay isn't really my question for this but I wanted to dye my hair Auburn for my cosplay. But I have black hair so will the results turn out right? Or is my hair too dark? I've seen someone dye their hair with Colorsilk Auburn Brown and it turned out just like Kairi's. I was wondering if it's right for my hair? Here's a picture of me btw...
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj12/danayoki/Image143.jpg
So is my hair too dark? If yes than what would you recommend?
PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME TO GO TO A SALON...
Thanks!! :DColorsilk Auburn Brown on Black Hair?
Don't do it! Either your hair will be a nasty bronze colour or it won't have a noticable effect
Get some bleach and bleach your hair first before you dye it the auburn color you want.Colorsilk Auburn Brown on Black Hair?
if you are not sure what your hair will look like when you color it
do a strand test first
mix a little of the color with peroxide
put in on a strand of hair where it will not show if you dont like it
this is the best way to experiment with colors
good luckthin hair

I JUST DYED my hair with REVLON ColorSilk, ';light ash brown'; and it came out GRAY WHY???????????
ugh I have to fix this now and with what???????????? its GRAY!!I JUST DYED my hair with REVLON ColorSilk, ';light ash brown'; and it came out GRAY WHY???????????
Hairdresser speaking! Ash is a green base. Unless you had a lot of warmth in your own haircolor to counter the green base, ash will become gray, or worse green! Also, everything else you have done to your hair prior to this is a factor in your results! Don't do your own hair color at home. Hair stylists don't tell you this because we want your money. We actually enjoy helping people look good. First of all, if you aren't a hair stylist, you know nothing about color theory, hair structure and the chemical processes. Second, those over the counter products are trash! You can't rely on the shades on the box and the name they give. They don't produce quality results even when you don't goof up and they are harsh on your hair. Go to a pro. Don't attempt to fix this yourself. It is costly to correct color professionally but at least you will still have hair when you are done. If you start trying to fix this yourself, you will probably make it much much worse. Corrective color is tricky. You already goofed up on hair you liked. What makes you think you can fix ****ed up color?!?!?! Go to a professional now! I don't mean to be mean. I'm really trying to help. I've seen women in my salon in the past come in crying because of the same thing. They goofed and tried to fix it. By the time they came to me, they had spent $20 to $50 on stuff at the store and ended up paying me an additional $100-$150 to fix it...that's a lot of money...not to mention they spent hours on it at home and then 4-10 hours with me. If you don't stop, it can turn into something really horrific that costs that much and takes that long to correct. So, if you care about your hair and you sound like you do, stop now and call to make an appointment with some one who knows corrective color! Good luck!I JUST DYED my hair with REVLON ColorSilk, ';light ash brown'; and it came out GRAY WHY???????????
Glad to hear it's going to work out in the end! I'm sorry if I came off too harsh, just very passionate! Report Abuse
I'm not sure but I have heard if you dye your hair while you have highlights it can throw the color off.
Uh oh, you've got a problem!I feel for ya. Did you put it on light hair? Ash often turns a grayish greenish tone on already lightened or blond hair. You'll probably have to see a hairdresser.(Or You could try to wash your hair w/ a clairifying shampoo several times and then re-color w/ a light blond shade, not ash! I can't guarantee this, though.)Hope it turns out alright.
try calling their call center, the number should be on the box. tell them what happened and they can tell you how to fix it. if they aren't open, then i would recommend an emergency trip to a salon. good luck girl, i feel bad for ya!
For one thing STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING THAT SAYS ASH on the box. With an ash color....ash brown, ash blonde, you very well may get gray hair...think...what color are ashes? Ash is gray so what you are really buying is a color with gray undertones. Your best bet now is to go now and buy a permanent color as close to your natural color that you can get but go one shade darker to make sure to cover those ashy colors up. If you need help contact me through yahoo messenger...krystena_420_24_7 I will help you more if I can...You can buy products at the store to strip the color out....DO NOT DO THAT it causes major breakage. before you reclolor....WASH WASH WASH......Get out what you can with dish soap dawn is best.
Because you used and ASH shade you should use either natural or golden, but now that you have already done it you need to use the golden. Make sure to condition really good befor and after coloring your hair the socond time! Good luck
it depends on what color your hair was to begin with. but it would be because ash is gray. ash brown is gray brown and its usually used to dye out red tones. i used to dye my hair red and every time i tried to get it brown again it always faded back to red. so i used an ash brown because the gray tones down the red and now its my natural color. but if your hair was really light brown, dirty blonde, or blonde, it would turn gray because its an ash tone and thats what it does

Revlon colorsilk black dye help!?
if i leave black hair dye in for less time than i am supposed to...
say 15 minutes instead of 25
will the color be less dark and intense?
because i am going for a ';natural soft black';
and im afraid its going to be too dark for what i wantedRevlon colorsilk black dye help!?

Revlon ColorSilk / Frost & Glow questions?
I have two questions... I bought Revlon ColorSilk in Dark Blonde (61) and the Frost %26amp; Glow for blondes today. My first intention was to use the Frost %26amp; Glow for crown/face highlights, and then the ColorSilk for lowlights in the underlayers.
My first question is... Does this sound like a good idea? The Frost %26amp; Glow has the cap and hook thing, and I figured I'd use that for both colorings.
But then I was thinking about it, and I was wondering if I'd rather just dye everything with the ColorSilk and then add the Frost %26amp; Glow on top.. But is it safe to color and highlight at home? Will it turn a gross color? Should I wait a while before highlighting, and if so, how long?
Final question.... what do you think? All over color and highlights, or highlights and lowlights? My hair is naturally golden blonde.Revlon ColorSilk / Frost %26amp; Glow questions?
Daily I do an all over color on my clients and follow with highlighting over the top. I love the look. When it comes to using the cap, just make sure that your hair is bone dry before you put it on. It can be painful trying to pull damp hair through. Another thing, when you have applied the lightener, don't rush the processing. Because you have just colored the hair, it might take a little longer to get to the blonde that you desire. Just keep the product wet, and wait. Do not let the hair reach the white stage. It will melt. As long as you keep the lightener moist, it will stay active for up to 2 hours. Condition. condition, condition!Revlon ColorSilk / Frost %26amp; Glow questions?
I dye my hair from home all the time with no problems, it always looked great. But one time I tried to highlight my hair and it was a disaster, somehow the entire crown of my head got a huge streak from the dye and it looked like a skunk (and I was very careful to not have them touch). The same thing happened to a friend of mine. So I would be careful with thie highlights. Good luck though!

Revlon Colorsilk hairdye while pregnant?
Congrats!thin hair

now i wanna dye my hair red, but i wonder which red works the best for my skin? i don't wanna look wash-out...
thanks!!
p/s:i just dye my hair like, 3 weeks, so how long do i ahve to wait to dye my hair again?

Get some bleach and bleach your hair first before you dye it the auburn color you want.Colorsilk Auburn Brown on Black Hair?
if you are not sure what your hair will look like when you color it
do a strand test first
mix a little of the color with peroxide
put in on a strand of hair where it will not show if you dont like it
this is the best way to experiment with colors
good luck

Revlon colorsilk black dye help!?
if i leave black hair dye in for less time than i am supposed to...
say 15 minutes instead of 25
will the color be less dark and intense?
because i am going for a ';natural soft black';
and im afraid its going to be too dark for what i wantedRevlon colorsilk black dye help!?

Good luck, but go dark brown, not BLACK!thin hair

Revlon colorsilk hair dye?
i'm dying my hair on friday with revlon colorsilk in 10 [black]. my hair is dark blonde now. it's naturally dark brown though, so i know it will look ok on me.
will it cover the blonde fully in one application? what do you like/dislike about it?Revlon colorsilk hair dye?
It should cover the blonde fine.
The only thing that I've had trouble with using this hairdye is that when I get a red tint to the black when I'm in the light...but then I started to like it. :]Revlon colorsilk hair dye?
yes will cover blond in one go
black is really hard to reverse if you dont like it. why dont you try a washin washout colour first which is temporary.
black can make people look really pale and ill looking.
good luck xx
using non proffesional color is not good
it has lots of metalics
and trying to go back might not be easy
yes it will cover the blonde

Does revlon colorsilk dye affect your natural hair color?
im going to color my hair for the first time and im kind of scared that if i do my natural hair colors going to change. if i use revlon colorsilk dye will it will it change my natural hair color once it grows back?
just in case it has to do with the color of my natural hair my hairs a light brown ( like miley cyrus')
and i want to dye it dark brown.Does revlon colorsilk dye affect your natural hair color?
You should have good results going from light brown to dark brown. The dye will change the color of the hair that you dye but your hair color will stay fundamentally the same. I just recently stopped dying my hair after 20 years of constant dye and my hair grew in just as it was before the dye job began.
Time to dye again.Does revlon colorsilk dye affect your natural hair color?
When you no longer want dark brown hair and you let it grow out, your own hair color should return. Revlon Colorsilk doesn't have peroxide.
Dying your hair doesn't change the way your hair naturally grows back.

Getting ride of Blue/green(Manic Panic) with Revlon colorsilk?
I have revlon colorsilk (natural blonde) and I wanted to know if it would get ride of my blue/green hair. I want to then dye it it some kind of brown.
Or would it be easier just to dye the blue/green with brown?
I want to find a job as fast as possible, and don't have time to go buy bleach for the 3rd time or go to a hair salon.
thanks for reading this =]Getting ride of Blue/green(Manic Panic) with Revlon colorsilk?
The fastest way to fade hair dye (and make sure you have plenty of conditioner on hand!) is to use dish detergent (not the stuff for the dishwasher though!! LOL) it makes it fade really quickly and is moderately okay for your hair, will just make it dry.Getting ride of Blue/green(Manic Panic) with Revlon colorsilk?
No, the only way t get rid of that blue green is to bleach it out. If you due iver it you will get a really nasty color and the blue green will still show because it has stained the hair shaft.

What colour is your hair now? If it is dark, there is no chance you will lift it to blonde in one go, especially doing it yourself.
A dark golden blonde would be better.
strawberry blonde
The link doesn't work, but I'm going to say golden blonde. XXsMiLexx

Is Revolon Colorsilk a good hair dye (the $3 box)?
Everyone says that it's the best and you can't beat the price. However, I don't want to ruin my hair. The negative reviews I read says that the color isn't the same on the box as it is in your hair, and that it is harsh on your hair as well.
Has anybody tried it? What's the best hair color you've ever used?
I have never dyed my hair before and don't tell me to go to a salon because I want to do it myself. Thanks and God Bless. Is Revolon Colorsilk a good hair dye (the $3 box)?
I've been using the dark brown in this line. It is a bit darker in my hair than on the box, but it does fade a little between colorings. My hair is in decent condition (same as with other brands) and you really can't beat the price. I've also had experience with Garnier colors; they're really nice and vibrant. Is Revolon Colorsilk a good hair dye (the $3 box)?
I dye mine blue black from Revlon and i love it.
Everyone i know swears by Revlon.
I've tried a few of the other boxes and didn't care for them.
They washed out faster than revlon
OMG I use this all the time. If you go to walmart you can get it BOGO. I've used this brand quite a few times and I always seem to go back to it. All hair colours can be harsh on your hair but it comes with a conditioner after you rinse out your hair put the conditioner in your hair and make sure you leave it in for at least 2 mins. I hope this helped. It is a good dye.
I'm not a big fan of Revlon, it dried out my hair very badly. I use Garnier Nutrisse, it doesn't dry out my hair.thin hair

Is revlon colorsilk good for your hair?
well my hair color is kinda brownih blackish, and i hate the brown...i want my haircolor jet black..ive done it with revlon colorsilk,. but if i do it again will it hurt? it's ammonia free. MY HAIR is weak, and kinda dry, and i want to put some color to it, what do i do?Is revlon colorsilk good for your hair?
I think dying your hair is stressful for it any way. If your hair is weak - it could seriously cause some damage. Would you rather have hair or have less hair, weaker hair but hair that's the color you want?
It probably also depends on the last time you dyed it. Read the instructions on the package. Is revlon colorsilk good for your hair?
before you do that make sure your hair is in good condition first

Has anyone used clairol colorsilk?
I've heard good and bad things about clairol. I'm thinking of using colorsilk in golden blonde. I used loreal ferio haircolor med. blonde about a month ago and wasn't to please of the results. would i better to go with colorsilk?Has anyone used clairol colorsilk?
Using any store bought haircolor is risky, especially the cheaper brands such as colorsilk. I've seen too many hair disasters of people's hair that followed the instructions. The haircolor industry is one of the most lucrative markets out there, and they can almost never be held liable for anything that goes wrong, even allergic reactions, because they've warned you on the package. It's better to go to a salon professional and get it done right the first time. Good luck!Has anyone used clairol colorsilk?
colorsilk is really shitty, cheap color... it fades fast and is bad for your hair. if you are using boxed color... look for something that says conditioning on it
all of the hair dye in the store is not good for your hair
Try Redkin semi works great lasts a long time without damaging your hair

Used Henna, no I wanna Re-dye my hair with colorsilk?
I tried to dye my hair brown (I'm naturally light blonde) with Rainbow Henna and it didn't come out very well, but after a few washes I started to like it so I kept it. But now I'm just tired of it and wanna go back to my natural light blonde hair, is it safe to use Revlon colorsilk since it's been 3 months?Used Henna, no I wanna Re-dye my hair with colorsilk?
if the henna was 100% pure, there should be no problem.
you can check by doing a test on the hairs from your hairbrush.Used Henna, no I wanna Re-dye my hair with colorsilk?
The general rule with henna is that you're stuck with it until your hair grows out. You can check with a stylist to see if they think they can do something with it, but box dyes just push the henna color deeper into the hair.

It doesn't burn my head. The only time it burns is if i put a huge glob on my scalp and don't rub it in to my hair.

if you have really dark hair... you should start of coloring it a stage lighter each time .. within 2 weeks periods... if your hair is black you should probably try and get it brown before blonde.. cause jumping from a really dark color to a really blonde color causes, scalp burning, hair loss, balding and so on...

Is there any over the counter solution? How do I correct color of my hair? Black instead of Brown. ColorSilk #30?

What do you think about Revlon's Colorsilk?
I bought the black one last year, and after I dyed my hair, I loveeed the color, but then now it's dark brown..I wish it stayed the color I dyed it the first time.....
A question....Is it safe to dye my hair with that product which is Ammonia free, when you have thin/dull hair with poor/discolored color? What do you think about Revlon's Colorsilk?
I've used Revlong Colorsilk with good results. I've tried most of the different hair color brands and find them all similar. For the best results, be sure to deep condition your hair once a week. Also, use a daily shampoo/conditioner made for color-treated hair to keep the color true longer. What do you think about Revlon's Colorsilk?
I havnt used it yet, but its on my list
Don't know, but that is the kind I use.
You need to get it professionally done b/c you may do something at home and mess up and have your hair falling out!

I dyed my hair with revlon colorsilk and my hair is now corse?
i used the conditioner it came with but from now what do i use since the condioner is only for 1 useI dyed my hair with revlon colorsilk and my hair is now corse?
The same thing happened to me when I used Colorsilk. I have been very happy with Loreal Preference - try that one next time... it's worth the extra 5 to 8 dollars.
In the mean-time, go to a beauty supply store and get a package of ';conditioning pack';. It's really the sam thing as in the box, and the sales person will likely be able to tell you what is the most popular with regular customers and/or salon staff.I dyed my hair with revlon colorsilk and my hair is now corse?
just start using shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair
take a shower

Will Revlon colorsilk 04 lighten my hair?
I have medium/dark brown hair, i want to lighten it up to kind of a light/medium brown. I'ts not my natural hair color, it is died. will Revlon Colorsilk 04 do this? Will Revlon colorsilk 04 lighten my hair?
I don;t know what colorsilk is, but if it is hair dye then no, it will not lighten. The number one rule of hair color is that color cannot lift color. Since you have previously dyed your hair the one and only way to get a lighter color is to bleach. Then you will need to tone it with an ash toned dye. That will give you the color that you want, but it has to be an ash (cool tone). Will Revlon colorsilk 04 lighten my hair?
yes

Is it safe to dye your hair twice in one day with Revlon Colorsilk?
with different colorsIs it safe to dye your hair twice in one day with Revlon Colorsilk?
Yes, although depending on how dark it is now you may have to strip it to get another color to show in it. I have heard beauty school students and hair dressers say no, but they just want you to use their products I have been coloring my hair myself for 25 years and it is in great shape. It is bleaching it and using blow dryers and hot irons that is really hard on your hair. I have even colored, stripped and colored my hair in one day. This int recommended though and I would not do it on a regular basis. Make sure you are gentle with your hair and dont use a harsh shampoo either. Use conditioner if you have it when you wash your after after coloring it. a hot oil treatment is good afterwards too sometime in the week following it. Be sure and use old towels for a while afterwards too your hair may leak a little color for a few days. If you are having trouble picking out a color, call the number on the box and ask them for help selecting a color. Good LuckIs it safe to dye your hair twice in one day with Revlon Colorsilk?
You can make your hair brittle with dying to much especially dying the same day.
You should wait @ least 1 week before re colouring
This will severly over-process your hair and make it extrememly dry and cause it to break off.
Yes if you want your hair to look a nice shade of green when it is lying in the bottom of the sink...lol
NO! it will turn a weird color, be dry and probably fall out in clumps. dont do it.
only if you want to fry your hair
your hair is going to get really bushy if you do that!
no it's not, you'll dry the hell out of it!
nope it is not
but if you want highlights or lowlights then it is
bad bad bad!
It will get dry and icky!
Why would you want to dye your hair twice in one day?

What Was Your Experience with Revlon Colorsilk's Auburn Shades?
I used the Colorsilk Strawberry Blonde Shade, and it didn't come out nearly as radiant as the box portrays is to be, or how I wanted it to be. People describe my hair as more blonde than red, and my color previous to using this shade was a more raidant red, so I don't understand how it could have turned out so washed out. I'm thinking of giving the Bright Auburn shade a try, but am hesistant about how it'll come out. I want my look to be natural, not over the top, so I'd like to hear anyone's experience with using any Auburn Colorsilk shade. Was it too dark? Was it too un-natural? What did you think? What Was Your Experience with Revlon Colorsilk's Auburn Shades?
I have tried all the Colorsilk reds at one time or another and I like the middle shade the best. They all looked natural but not what I would call vibrant. They did fade rather quickly, however. What Was Your Experience with Revlon Colorsilk's Auburn Shades?
I have jet black hair and when I used the Revlon Colorsilk's Auburn shade I used a bleach lightener with it just to brighten it to the shade I was satisfied with. I would suggest that you go to a salon to get your hair colored this time there is no telling what color you might get this time. I think my results came out better than expected however I don't color my hair that often. I think it depends on the shade of your hair and how often you color it.
Good Luck

Is Revlon ColorSilk permanent color actually permanent?
Will it wash out after a couple weeks because I'm scared! Is Revlon ColorSilk permanent color actually permanent?
It is not permanent. If you like it, you may have to repeat to maintain the colour and shine after every 40-45 days. If you don't, just discontinue it.Is Revlon ColorSilk permanent color actually permanent?
Yes it is permanent and in my experience it dries your hair out much worse than other brands. I would not recommend it.
It's been my experience that even the semi permanent colors that ARE supposed to wash out in 6 to 12 weeks DON'T. They will fade a litttle but are in there to stay. If you want something that is going to wash out try Loving Care or Roux color rinse.
It is very permanent, but very harsh on the hair.
I always had dry split hair when I used it....I'll never use it again.
loreal preference is better
see source for why
from my expreience oh yes very permenant my hair dresser was not very pleased when i did that lol lol, when it starts to grow out it looks terrible i would not recommend it, if you haven't already. you will kick yourself.
yes it is permanent but i sugguest u NOT to use it it keeps ur hair dried out and frizzy....thin hair

Can i dye natuarally black hair brown with Revlon Colorsilk?
My hair is naturally black and i want to dye it brown using revlon Colorsilk permanent hair color. on the box it has the current hair colors and the results you will get. black is one of the ';current' hair colors, but i'm not sure if it will work because i thought you have to bleach black hair in order to make it lighter. is it possible to use hair dye on black hair? Can i dye natuarally black hair brown with Revlon Colorsilk?
My sister went form black to brown , so it might ! (:Can i dye natuarally black hair brown with Revlon Colorsilk?
With naturally black, You can lift hair hair up to 4 or 5 levels as long as you use 40 volume. so, Yeah. You can.

I dyed my hair black and it looks really bad. I want to dye it back to brown. I bought colorsilk light brown?
Can I get my hair back to brown from black? I am worried that my hair will turn orange. Please help me!
Thanks in advance!I dyed my hair black and it looks really bad. I want to dye it back to brown. I bought colorsilk light brown?
i promise it ill will be orange u hav to bleach it first!!I dyed my hair black and it looks really bad. I want to dye it back to brown. I bought colorsilk light brown?
yes you can
it is not going to be ORANGE!!
it is gonna be brown or dark brown dear!
You can't dye over black with brown. You're wasting your money because It will just stay black.
You can either strip your hair or try bleaching it. It's going to become a shade of orange either way.
I would seriously seek out a professional.
It took me a year to get the black out of my hair.
i am sure you can. but your hair will be REALLY damaged.
It will be fine... just don't leave it on too lond and use a deep conditioner often. check the number on the box if it has a R then its main color is red as an ingreident so watch out for that
I wouldn't dye it again because it could be very damaging to your hair.
Get some head and shoulders, it removes hairdye. You just want to fade it to a brown so keep washing your hair until you get the color you want. Afterwards, use a deep conditioner.
Other thing that remove hairdye are Prell shampoo, pretty much any clarifying shampoo, baking soda mixed with shampoo.
Hope this helps
It won't do anything if you just put brown dye on top of it.
Best idea is go to a salon %26amp; have them strip the black out.
Or you could always bleach it yourself, but it'll turn really orange, then put brown over that.
go to a salon and ask the salon lady what will happen, unless you meet somebody who is a professional wiht handling hair! Just in case it won't turn your hair orange!
ooh i don't think it'll work. you cant dye over black hair - it'll just leave you with black with a rusty orange tint... if you really can't live with it go to a salon - you can't do anything yourself, only mess it up completely.
why do you think it looks bad? maybe you're just not used to it... it'll fade a bit eventually, but you're just gonna have to wait for it to grow back.
I wouldn't dye it again. Keep washing it with a clarifying shampoo and it will fade out.
Dyeing black hair is like drawing on black construction paper with a marker. It just won't show up. First, you will need to remove the black dye. I'd say go to a salon for this.
No, you won't be able to lighten it up on your own. You will need to have correvtive coloring, have a pofessional do it, make sure you gst a good deep condtioner, and be gentle with your hair, it will be super fragile.
just using a light brown dye wont work. black is the hardest colour to get out. trust me. see a hairdresser!

Does revlon colorsilk already have bleach in it?
i dyed my hair black and i wanted to have higlights but i dont know if revlon colorsilk(bright auburn) would show up or not. does it already have bleach or do i have to put bleach on it first before dying it?Does revlon colorsilk already have bleach in it?
no, it doesn't. colorsilk is a very mild dye containing no ammonia and is also pretty weak. store bought hair dye will not work on your dyed black hair because they all contain 20 volume peroxide. 20 volume can not lift dyed hair any lighter, it has to be something with 30 volume or 40. i would recommend that you get a cap and hook highlight kit like frost %26amp; glow, they have it at stores. you could also get your favorite box color of red dye. put on the highlight cap, pull the strands you want through with the hook and apply the bleach cream. leave it on until it's dark yellow or orange and wash it out - do not remove the highlight cap! leave it on and rinse it out, shampoo the strands you highlighted and condition all while leaving the highlight cap on. then get out of the shower, either towel dry or blowdry the highlights 'till they're dry, with the highlight cap still on. then dye the highlights with the red dye your bought and leave it on 25-30 minutes, and don't remove the highlight cap. then rinse 'till the water runs clear and then you can take off the highlight cap. condition again and voila! red highlights! this will work perfectly, trust me, i've done it before. good luck!

Revlon colorsilk - how often can you dye your hair with it?
how often can you dye your hair with revlon colorsilk products? i have naturally blonde hair but i dyed it dark brown back in march (of this year) and now i'm wanting to go back to my blonde color.
i've lightened it up quite a bit so now its a dark blonde/light brown. i did this lightening earlier this evening.
how long should i wait before its safe to dye it with this product again?Revlon colorsilk - how often can you dye your hair with it?
Colorsilk isn't all that strong, so I would say a month. In fact, I've used it a month apart before. But I don't color mine a lot. There was a time when I did it about 3-4 months in a row. I'm sure you are OK to do it now. It's been 3 months.Revlon colorsilk - how often can you dye your hair with it?
I did the same thing a few months ago and I would really wait at least a week before you color it again. Also since hair dyeing strips your hair of it's natural moisture, I recommend getting some hair cholesterol from the drug store. I use it at least once a week and more so right after I dye my hair and it really helps. The cholesterol I use is called Queen Helene Cholesterol Hair Conditioning Cream. You can normally get it at any drugstore or Sally's beauty supply.
Here is a picture of what it looks like.

Good luck getting back to blonde!
uve already used a chemical on your hair if the lighting took okay wait like 3-6 weeks thats the normal when using chemicals if u want to cover something really quick use a rinse for the time being
I would get it professionaly dyed if you are going to go lighter.
it's raining sideways!
6-8 weeks

How long does Revlon Colorsilk last?
My hair is dark brown and I got the Revlon Colorsilk Auburn brown (49) Permanent. How long will it last for?How long does Revlon Colorsilk last?
I have use it before and it last very long like 3 months really I and not kidding .I think revlon is a great products I have use more expensive but I can say this products is cheap and it really works well. How long does Revlon Colorsilk last?
I only use their makeup but I have used the other hair color products and it will depend on how often you wash your hair and what condition it is in. Most permanent hair color will stay in until you cut it out but it tends to fade if you don't use the shampoo for Color treated hair or you wash it to often.
I don't know how long it will last, but I will be honest and say that Revlon is not a good brand for hair dye. I would go with L'Oreal. I don't dye my hair personally, but I have a cousin who changes her color every 3 months and she's also a hair stylist/works at a salon. Revlon is great when it comes to makeup, but their hair products are not worth it. Next time buy Clairol or L'Oreal.
Usually 4 to 6 weeks, it will fade if you are in the sun alot and also if you wash your hair very often! Hope I've helped! Good Luck!!!!!!!!

Does revlon colorsilk really make your hair better?
well im thinking of dyeing my hair today black with the revlon colorsilk and i was wondering if anyone has used it and does it really make your hair healthier?and how about thicker?Does revlon colorsilk really make your hair better?
It wont make your hair thicker. And it won't make your hair healthier. Not that brand, or any other brand. Don't fall for the hype. It won't damage though, so it is perfectly safe to use.

Is Revlon Colorsilk Haircolour a good product?
Has anyone used this brand? Does it look natural? Are the results true to the colours on the box? I currently use Clairol Nice n' Easy but would like to switch to Revlon because they do not test on animals but I don't want to look awful! Also I would be going with a light blonde shade, if anyone has used the blonde shades and could share their experiences that would be great. My natural colour is dark blonde. Is Revlon Colorsilk Haircolour a good product?
I actually like Revlon. I just used their dye about 2 weeks ago. I didn't use blond, but I used a medium brown shade. It came out darker than the box, but I have naturally black hair. It all depends on what your current hair color is. My under layer for my hair was pink (Yes, I went very dramatic for about a month) %26amp; when I used the brown, it came out light brown/honey brown. I like both colors of my hair though. I would recommend Revlon to anyone :)Is Revlon Colorsilk Haircolour a good product?
i now that relvon colorsilk is very cheap
it look nice on your hair too........for about 2 weeks
even if you buy the permanent one
it would fade really fast and still damage your hair like others
Nah use Natural Instincs
yes, Thats what i use and it's long lasting and effective.
I chose to use that brand for the same reason:)

Can you use Revlon Colorsilk on your hair for more than 25 min?
To get a very saturated color and so it won't fade away as easily? Can you use Revlon Colorsilk on your hair for more than 25 min?
yeah,i do. look at my hair.I mean, come onCan you use Revlon Colorsilk on your hair for more than 25 min?
I have used their hair color. I have gone over on the time by about 6 or 7 minutes. I didn't experience any bad reaction. The only thing is, I would advise you use caution, because I once used Garnier Nutrisse and I left it on for an extra 15 minutes, and my scalp felt as if it was kind of burning in certain areas, even a for a while after I rinsed out all the excess dye. So, limit the amount of ';extra'; time you leave any hair color on your hair.
Um, I would not that, cause all of those chemicals are not good for your hair, and leaving it on for more that 25 min is not good either. And i don't think it affects the fading..... but idk?
no matter what dye it is i leave it in for an hour......it stays in longer for me....ive been doing an hour for about 7 years and it still hasnt ruined my hair like everyone says it does

Should I use Natural Instinicts or Colorsilk to dye my hair?
I want to dye my hair with the least amount of damage possible and I already bought the Colorsilk but I heard it leaves your hair feeling dry. I already have coarse hair from dying it and heat damage and don't want to damage it to much. So which box color is better?Should I use Natural Instinicts or Colorsilk to dye my hair?
Try Garnier or something like that. I use it on my daughters hair and it leaves it soft and shiny.Should I use Natural Instinicts or Colorsilk to dye my hair?
regardless of what hair dye you use it's going to damage your hair. revlon is better though because it doesn't dry out your hair.

I used dark blonde colorsilk permanent hair color. I've read before that it should come out in 6 weeks, but its been about 3 months and it looks the same. How long does it take for colorsilk hair color to fade out?
It's permanent so it will stay forever, just fade slightly over time. The 6 weeks is when your roots start to show pretty bad and you need to dye it again. How long does it take for colorsilk hair color to fade out?
